Forces Help to Buy mortgages

In April 2014 the Government introduced a scheme that offers regular service personnel the opportunity to borrow up to 50% of their salary – to a maximum loan size of £25,000 – as an interest free loan to be used as a deposit for a home.
Many military personnel find they do not qualify for the Help to Buy scheme with mainstream lenders, due to limited credit history caused by frequent work outside of the UK and subsequently not appearing on the electoral register.
At Kensington our lending decisions are not made by an automated system. Individually reviewed by experienced underwriters, we are able to consider more complex circumstances that may cause applicants to fail a credit score elsewhere.
